War Memorial Window

War Memorial – Latest News

Thanks to the extraordinary support received from the community for the repair of the Offord D’Arcy War Memorial stained glass window, the window has now been removed to the safe keeping of the Conservator, pending commencement of the restoration work.  The work will involve cleaning all the glass, mending the cracked and damaged pieces, replacing the lead and installing new non-ferrous glazing bars.  It is expected that the restored window will be re-installed in St Peter’s by the end of August.

The level of support received is such that a contract for the restoration of the brass memorial plaques has also been placed.  Their surfaces will be restored and the lettering retouched.

The Friends of St Peter’s thank all those who have made a contribution to help us achieve this target.
